M r. Andres joined Green Jacobson & Butsch in October of 1997, and became a principal of the firm in 1999. He became of counsel to the firm in early 2006. Mr. Andres graduated from St. Louis University Law School in 1990 and completed a masters of business administration in 1991. While at St. Louis University Law School, Mr. Andres served as the administrative editor of the St. Louis University Law Journal. He also authored a published note entitled, “Refusing to Admit the Handbook Exception into Missouri’s Employment At Will Doctrine: The Dutch-Door Effect Under Johnson v. McDonnell Douglas Corporation.” Mr. Andres previously was associated with the St. Louis law firm of Thompson & Coburn.

Mr. Andres has developed a litigation and business practice focused primarily in the areas of commercial, business and securities litigation as well as real estate and zoning law. In addition to extensive trial experience in federal and state courts in both Missouri and Illinois, he regularly provides counsel to various sized business entities, advising them on organizational, business and employment issues and representing their interests in general business and real estate matters. He serves as Missouri counsel for a national consumer lender headquartered in Georgia. He participated in drafting enabling legislation for the industry enacted in Missouri in 1998, and handles all regulatory and licensing matters before the Missouri Division of Finance as well as local zoning and regulatory matters. Mr. Andres is also primary outside counsel for one of the nation’s largest independent tire dealers.

Mr. Andres also has substantial experience in the prosecution and defense of class action claims. For example, he was responsible over a four year period for day to day management of a federal securities class action in which Green Schaaf & Jacobson was appointed lead counsel. During the course of that litigation, he handled all aspects of discovery including a successful challenge to a reporter’s assertion of First Amendment privilege, and worked extensively with expert witnesses in the areas of accounting, investment banking, and statistical analysis to analyze liability and corporate merger issues and to calculate shareholder damages. He participated in negotiating a settlement with defendants that, at that time, was the largest cash settlement ever reached in a securities class action. He also has experience in successfully trying class actions to verdict.

Mr. Andres is a member of the Missouri and Illinois Bars, as well as various professional associations including the American Bar Association.
