Defamed broker obtains full relief
Allen Press obtained a full victory in an arbitration against A.G. Edwards on behalf of a broker formerly employed by the firm. Edwards had defamed the broker in a public disclosure about the reason for termination of his employment. After a four day hearing, the panel of three NASD arbitrators returned a unanimous decision in our favor, awarding our client $280,000 in lost wages and ordering retraction of the defamatory public disclosure. Edwards sought to have the award vacated, but the Missouri Court of Appeals affirmed the arbitrators’ award in its entirety.
